Clay Creature Reflection
1. Evaluate: What are the good / strong parts of your project? What is done well & why?
-The strong parts of my project, in my opinion, are probably the details I put into my clay creature. I tried to get the body to look like an actual dog instead of just an imitation.
2. Evaluate: What do you think you could have done better on this project? What is not great and why?
-Texture. Since I made a dog, I would've liked to have added the appearance of fur. It would make the dog look more realistic.
3. Describe the theme / unity of your creature: What is the theme (or what is represented in) of your design and why did you chose to do that design?
-My theme is a dog. I choose to do it because I thought making a clay dog would be fun. Plus I like dogs and I love the way it turned out.
4. Describe the form of your project: How would you describe the 3-D shape to someone who can't see it?
- It's a rectangle shaped body with protruding legs and a head. The head has pointy ears, and has a slanted muzzle. There is also a tail curved around the back legs
5. Analyze the use of emphasis: What stands out as strong / dominant? Why did you select to make that emphasized?
-Definitley my ears. I made them big to bring emphasise to a somewhat overlooked part of a dog. I chose it because a dog's ears often show its personality.
6. Metacognate: What did you learn from this project that you could apply to other projects in the future? What lessons could be applied to life in general? Why?
-Timing. You need to properly time the project so it dosen't dry out when you're not working on it, just like you need to time other events in life in order for the outcome to be positive. I also learned patience, as it took a long time to get it the way I would like it.
7. Describe the design process of your project (the steps): Why did you do it the way you did? Was it planned? What is by chance? Did you have the size or design decided first? What changed as you went along with the project? Elaborate...
-This project was totally not planned. I planned on doing a llama, but it didn't work out. It slowly morphed into a dog, and so thats the form I stuck with.
8. Is this a worthwhile project? What should Mr. Purdy do to this project in the future? Why?
-Yes, and in the future, we should be able to have a broader range of things we can make with clay. I personally love clay, and would love that option.
