Printmaking Reflection
1. The good/strong parts of my project would have to be my black and white prints. They really showed detail and accented all the things I wanted it to.
2. I think I could have done a better job with carving my matrix. I don't think it had enough detail and would've looked better with more time and carving put into it.
3. The theme/unity of my design is a horse running across a field. I chose to do it as my theme because I really like the movement of horses and I thought it would be a creative thing to do.
4. For all the coor family prints I did, my black and white one definitley seemed the best to me. It showed everything I tried to get out of it when I carved my matrix.
5. I have pattern because each print was made with the same exact matrix. I have rythem because of all the different colors I used for each print and how they all look together. I feel the whole series looks very good taped together, and I'm happy with the way it came out. Relation and repetion makes rythem and pattern to me. The whole design has unity on account of the way all my prints look taped together and the way it seemed to fit together perfectly.
6. I learned from this project that you can make many things out of the smallest creation. With my one matrix, I could create many prints that all had the same pattern, but looked much different.
7. For this project, the first thing I did was my perlimarys. After I decided on which one I wanted to do, I carved out the design into the lanoleum. When it was carved, I painted on different colors of ink and transferred it onto a piece of a paper. I did 8 of those to create a large piece which contains all of them. It was one of my prelimarys, so yes, It was planned. The thing that changed as my project went on was the way I did my prints. At first, I took my time and tried to do my best. But as time went on, I went quicker just to get it done.
8. Yes, I do think it is a worthwhile project. Even though it's tiresome, I think that the whole process was appreciated once it was finally done. I think Mr. Purdy should keep it, but figure out new ideas on how to keep everything more organized. More sinks!
